How To Use A LinesToGo Nylon Line Repair Kit
We've all been there. You're working on your vehicle, you go to disconnect a line, and - snap - that brittle old quick connector fitting breaks. Or maybe you've spotted a leak because the nylon line itself is cracked, chafed, or just worn out right near the end. It's a super common problem, especially on older vehicles.
If you're dealing with a damaged fuel line or a broken connector, don't sweat it. This is a straightforward DIY auto repair you can definitely handle. Order the correct nylon line repair kit from LinesToGo, and follow these simple steps:
The part number for the specific repair kit tutorial below is 6093-01, but the installation process will be similar for all of the nylon repair kits that we supply.
Nylon Line Repair Tips You Need To Know
Nylon line repair is an easy task that you can take on yourself, in your own garage. Check out the tips below to get started:
- Be certain to disconnect the battery before working on a vehicle to reduce the risk of shorting out the battery on tools or lines.
- LinesToGo lines are made with a sectional design for easier installation. We also use color-coded unions on our sectioned lines. Just match the colors of the connections.
- Make sure to depressurize the fuel system before starting the installation.
Using A Nylon Repair Kit

- First, disconnect the metal line from the quick connect fitting that you wish to replace.
- Next, with the new section of nylon repair kit, place it next to the existing nylon line. Mark both lines where you wish to make the splice.
- Note: The splice will need to be placed on a straight section of the molded nylon line.
- If you are able to use the whole length of the repair line, just mark the existing line at the center of the shark bite fitting.
- Once the marks are made, use a sharp knife or razor blade to cut the nylon lines at the marks. The cuts will need to be square and relatively clean (hence the need for the sharp blade!).
- If you need to cut the repair line shorter for your vehicle, after marking the lines at the splice point, remove the shark bite fitting from the nylon line by pressing in on the blue locking clip and sliding the connector off of the line.
- Cut the line using a razor blade or sharp knife and replace the shark bite fitting onto the line, making sure the line is fully seated into the connector.
- After cutting the lines, use the shark bite fitting to connect the two sections of line together. Make sure the lines are fully seated into the shark bite fitting.
- Once the new section of nylon repair kit is installed, reconnect the metal line at the quick connection.
And that's it! Just like that, you've repaired the line and can get back on the road. If you need to repair a nylon line on your ride, check out our repair kits below:
